Joe Escobar
Head Coach - Men's
Joe Escobar, Men's Head Coach
Credentials: Acalanes alum, former assistant coach at Las Lomas High School and Diablo Valley Track and Field club. Coach Escobar also worked as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) during his early years as a track coach.
Fun Fact: Coach Escobar has also coached (or still coaches) soccer, football, and cross country at Acalanes for the past 10 years. Loves the movie Cars.
Bruno Morlan
Head Coach - Women's and Distance
Bruno Morlan, Women's Head Coach, Co-Head of Distance
Credentials:
In 9th year of coaching high school running. In 2016, coached boys cross country team at previous school to runner up finish at Southern Section Finals, in 2017, to 3rd place finish in Division 3 State Championships. First year at Acalanes High School, as an assistant coach helped girls cross country team to 5th place finish. Runs marathons in spare time, ran under 2:30 in two different occasions.
Fun Fact: I love to travel, I’ve been to 42 different countries.

Chris Clark, Shot Put and Discus
Credentials: In addition to his extensive training under John Godina in shot and discus, Chris is also the head athletic trainer at Acalanes. He has been a pillar of Acalanes Track and Field for over 10 years.
Fun Fact: Graduate of Saint Mary's College.

Credentials: Five-time world champion, numerous time national champion in masters track and field, USA Track and Field Mentor Coach 2012 Olympic Trials, Sprint Coach World Indoors 2014, Level 1, 2 & 3 USA Track and Field Certification, IAAF Level 55 time world champion,
Fun Fact: Joy comes from a family of track stars: sister Grace Upshaw (Beijing Olympics Long Jump), father Monte Upshaw (broke Jesse Owens 21-year high school long jump record) and daughters Sunny and Windy Margerum.

Credentials:
16th year coaching. 16 years Football, 1 year Baseball, 3 years Track and Field, 9 years Strength and Conditioning.
Born in Santa Clara, CA. Graduated Bellarmine High School, San Jose, Cal. Santa Clara University - Undergraduate. San Jose State University - Graduate

Jesse Stewart, Sprints
Credentials: Acalanes Alum finishing his final year at UC Berkeley and looking to get a master's in Kinesiology and/or education after graduating. Jesse has coached football at Acalanes for four years and is coaching Track and Field for the first time in 2022.
Fun Fact: (Allegedly) A coffee snob but a confirmed country/folk music aficionado. Thinks Cars is a good but not great movie.

John Wilcox, Hurdles
Credentials: John ran 300 and 110 hurdles for four years at Acalanes.
Fun Fact: Before coaching track John was a high school robotics coach in Michigan.
David Kohls

David Kohls, High Jump, Hurdles & Pole Vault
Credentials: David has been a local track coach for over 13 years and is a USATF Official.
Fun Fact: David is a songwriter and musician working under the name Lev Golly.
Julian Hinds: Sprint
Credentials: Julian is an accomplished track athlete and has been coaching at Acalanes since the 2023 season.
Fun Fact: Ran sprints at Acalanes High School!
Roger Chelemedos, Boosters Rep
Boosters: Roger is coordinating Booster and team Parent activities with a VERY capable group of parents including Veronique Kuehner, Stefanie Kaplanes, Jennifer Dodge, Gina McKenzie, Karen Hiatt, Heidi Lockwood and with the stewardship of long-time Parent/Booster Rep Extraordinaire Daphne Seymour.
